JUDGES
STEVEN EDWARDS
Steven Edwards is no stranger to the stage. He actively participates in productions throughout Ohio as a vocalist and actor. Steve has accumulated countless hours on the stage in a myriad of theatrical productions and musical events. He currently serves as President of the Weathervane Playhouse Board of Directors. Steve also uses his theatrical talents as he presents high-energy keynotes and workshops to organizations across the country with his theme: “YOU hold the Ticket to SUCCESS!” He is sought after as the communication expert of Central Ohio and has been listed in the National Speaker's Association of Who’s Who In Professional Speaking. He has been active in the Miss America Organization for many years, serving as a judge, emcee, and entertainer. Steve is currently a Professor of Speech/Communications at Ohio University and the Founder/President of EDWARDS & Associates in Newark.
DR. DONNA CLEVINGER
Donna Clevinger, Ph.D., recently located to Ohio from Texas and is currently serving as the Associate Dean and Professor of Theatre at Ohio University. She received her BA and MA degrees from the University of Kentucky and her Ph.D. from the University of Michigan. She has taught, acted, directed, choreographed, and served as a critic judge in university, college, professional, and community theatre and dance settings. Author of two books and numerous articles, Dr. Clevinger participates in regional and national conventions and is a frequent speaker to community organizations. She is the recipient of several teaching and service awards, and serves as a member of the Board of Directors for the PowerHouse of Southeastern Ohio, as well as the Ohio Alliance for Arts Education – a partner of the Kennedy Center Alliance for Arts Education Network in Washington D.C. Most recently, Dr. Clevinger has created the Visual and Performing Arts Institute for Gifted and Talented Students at Ohio University of Zanesville, and she participated in the highly competitive Harvard Institute for Management and Leadership in Education program. She has judged several Miss America Organization competitions in the Southern states.
NICK EICHLER
Nicholas C Eichler, Staffing Coordinator for Cheerleaders of America, Inc., takes pride in hiring and working with some of the top cheerleading programs and universities across the country. A native of Little Rock, AR, Nicholas now resides in Columbus, OH, where he is also co-founder of the state’s top national training center for competitive cheerleading, Step 1 Allstars. He has been involved in competitive cheerleading, gymnastics, and dance for over 16 years and has had the opportunity to travel to London, England to perform for Queen Elizabeth. Nicholas has been involved with the Miss America Organization for over 7 years, serving both the Miss Arkansas Scholarship Program as well as the Miss Ohio Scholarship Program.
MARIE CARTER POLLACK
Marie Pollack is a professional motivational speaker, author, consultant, and trainer for Sensational Speakers. She is the author of the book Life is a Journey to be Enjoyed. She has over 30 years experience inspiring, encouraging and entertaining audiences. She is best known for her ability to stimulate audiences to new levels of personal and professional growth, and is often referred to as “The Attitude Adjuster.” An active member of the National Speakers Association, Marie inherited much of her spirit from her father Bob Carter, who was a well-known entertainer in Hollywood and Vaudeville. Marie is a graduate of the John Robert Powers modeling agency, representing them at the National Modeling Agency in New York. She later owned and operated Studio 754 in German Village where she taught personal development and color analysis. Marie is the owner of Miss Marie’s Charm School, through which she shares her passion of instilling manners, poise, grace and etiquette in young people.
JERRY WOLGEMUTH
Gerald F. Wolgemuth (Jerry) lives in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania and has been the Director of Communications for the United Methodist denomination in Central Pennsylvania for eight years. Before moving to Pennsylvania, Jerry was a member of the Board of Directors for the Miss Ohio Scholarship Program. Jerry and his wife, Ruth, have judged many Miss Ohio preliminaries, produced the Miss Ohio Dance Spectacular, and published a national dance magazine. Jerry is spokesperson to the public press across Pennsylvania, produces audio and video materials, and is editor of LINK newspaper.
KELLI SCOTT
Kelli Scott is the Director of Marketing and Advertising for Dale Carnegie Training of Ohio and Indiana. She began her career as a Training Consultant with Dale Carnegie Training in the Akron/Canton markets, and continued in Columbus. She has a background of over 15 years in banking, finance, and sales. She received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Business Management from Malone College, and she is currently pursuing a Master of Science Degree in Marketing and Communications at Franklin University. Kelli is a motivational speaker who conducts team workshops, and specializes in promoting leadership and sales development in Columbus and small-town markets across Ohio. She is actively involved with the American Cancer Society, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc., the Canton Pro Football Hall of Fame Festival Transportation Committee, and the Association for Women in Communications. Kelli has a strong belief in faith, hard work, and determination.
HARVEY GOLD
President of Gold Teleproductions, Soho, New York, Harvey Gold produced "Caroline's Comedy Hour" for A&E, Comedy Central's "Countdown to Comic Relief 8," the series "Two Drink Minimum," and three episodes of "Pulp Comics," as well as a number of pieces for MTV. Harvey counts among his writers, hosts and friends such notables as: Jon Stewart ("The Daily Show"), Michael Patrick King ("Sex and the City"), Suzie Essman ("Curb Your Enthusiasm"), Tom Hertz ("Spin City"), and Colin Quinn. He has also produced specials for Nickelodeon, segments for the Food Network's "Unwrapped," and recently produced the music video for "10AM Automatic" by Akron's The Black Keys in New York City with comedian/actor David Cross ("Arrested Development") directing. Harvey received the CableACE Award for his work on "Caroline's..." and served as Technical Director for the Academy Award nominated feature length documentary "Adam Clayton Powell." He has also served as an invited lecturer at NYU Film School, and continues to be an active mentor of independent film-makers in New York. Harvey returned to Akron in early 2000 after 20 years in New York and has begun to actively play, write and perform music again. His critically acclaimed new wave band, Tin Huey--which had released an album for Warner Brothers, another for Future Fossil and a few other independent releases--began performing again in 2003, and has two new CD projects in the works. Harvey is currently focusing on his current band, Half Cleveland, which he formed with Tin Huey bandmate, Chris Butler ("I Know What Boys Like," "Christmas Wrapping"). Half Cleveland has been performing, thus far, in Ohio and on the east coast.
